- Pocket
Fold the pocket facing right sides together, topstitch the sides (facing only) at the width of a toe. Turn the facing right side out. Shape the corners. Topstitch the facing from the right side or sew on with a hand stitch from the inside.
Loosen the upper thread tension a little. Sew along the seam allowance with a larger straight stitch. This stitching will help you to place the seam allowances evenly on the inside.
Pull the threads so that the seam allowance is turned inwards.
Position the pockets on the front piece, pin in place and topstitch close to the edge.
- Front/back
Stitch the shoulder seams right sides together.
Topstitch the side seams.
- Armhole
The armhole can be edged with bias tape (in this case, cut the armhole without a seam allowance) or finished with a cuff (recommended width on the fold: 5 cm).
The heavy rib cuffs are particularly suitable for this.
The armhole is measured for the cuff length. This value is multiplied by 0.7.
- Hood
The hood consists of three parts. The narrower end piece of the middle section is at the front.
Stitch the middle piece to the side hood pieces. Finish the seams.
- Hood trim
Lay the facing right sides together and sew together.
Pin and sew the facing to the hood and turn the facing to the left side of the hood.
Topstitch the facing from the right side.
Topstitch the hood to the neckline. Finish the seam.
- Zipper
Pin and topstitch the zipper halves with the top side facing down.
- Facing
Topstitch the shoulder seams on the front and back facing.
Pin and topstitch the bottom edge of the facing to the hem edge of the front pieces, right sides facing.
Pin and sew the front Pin the front facing to the front edges and to the (front and back) neckline, right sides together (start at the neckline) and topstitch (zipper foot). The zipper is interfaced.
Baste the facing to the shoulder seam.
Topstitch the zipper to the width of a foot from the right side.
Topstitch the hem or sew with a blind stitch.
