FREE PATTERN FOR A CUSHION
CUSHION WITH ENVELOPE CLOSURE
Would you like to sew yourself a cushion? One without a zipper and buttons? The solution is called “envelope cover”. This pattern is perfect for beginners.
What is an envelope fastening: The fabric at the open end of the cover is folded inwards a little on one side and sewn on the edge.

What do you need?
- Coated / woven cotton:
55 cm x 140 cm + 1 cm - Sewing machine
- Clips and pins
- Scissors
- Tape measure
- Pen / tailor’s chalk
- Iron
Sewing instructions for the Cushion
Download Pattern
- Cut the fabric (including seam allowance) to the dimensions 52 x 124 cm.
- Measure 3 cm from the edge and fold the fabric twice
- Then sew. Now lay the fabric with the wrong side on your sewing table. Fold the two outer sides as follows and pin them in place.
- Sew all four edges with a seam allowance of 1 cm
- Pull your pillowcase right side out.
- Now all you have to do is fill your cover.
