The seam allowances are included in the pattern.
- The cut
Print out the star or deer pattern and cut out the fabric pieces. The cutting dimensions include a 1 cm seam allowance.
- Sewing
Sew the two cut fabric pieces together, right sides facing. Leave a turning opening on one side. (For the deer, sew the ears and antlers first and sew the appliqués to the front of the deer - please do not use fabric glue).
Now turn the cushion inside out. A chopstick for the corners helps when turning.
- Stuffing
Trace the points of the star towards the center using tailor's chalk. Sew a line to the center. This creates a border for the first point. Divide the grains evenly between five cups. Pour the first cup of seeds into the star. Push all the seeds into the first prong and pin them neatly in place with pins. Now sew them back up to the center and the first prong is filled. Repeat this process until the star is filled. Finally, sew the turning opening close to the edge.
- Make warm
The seed pillow can now be heated in the microwave (max. 3 min. at 700 watts). Different fabrics and grains may be particularly suitable for different applications. Cherry stones, for example, store heat for a very long time, whereas grape seeds spread it better. A little lavender can also provide a pleasant scent.
