LUKA is a hoodie-style slip-on jacket with a kangaroo pocket on the front. Ideal for active children who are outdoors in all weathers. Made from softshell or rain jacket fabric, this cool windbreaker is a robust and reliable companion for a day in the great outdoors. The seam allowances are not included in the pattern.

The pattern consists of 12 A4 pages and must be assembled as follows: A1...A4 / B1...B4 / C1...C4 / D1...D2

  • Front insert
The front insert is cut 4 times. 2 pattern pieces are intended as facings and can be cut from a different fabric (jersey, fleece).
Sew in the zipper: Pin the zipper between the facing and the front piece. The teeth point towards the sleeve seam. Sew in place with straight stitch, turn right side out.
Pin and sew the right side of the front panel insert to the right fabric edge of the neckline in the front piece, right sides facing.
This seam ends 1 cm below the edge of the neckline. Repeat the same on the other side.
In the lower corners (front section), make seam allowance-deep incisions in the direction of the ends of the seams (as with a polo closure).
Fold the front piece right sides together at the slit bottom and carefully sew the trapezoidal seam allowance created by the incisions to the bottom edge of the front piece insert. Finish the edges of the fabric.
  • Sewing the kangaroo pocket
Turn the pocket opening seam allowance inwards and topstitch.
Turn the bottom edge of the pocket seam allowance inwards and pin in place.
Turn the pocket 180 degrees (“upside down”) and place right sides together on the front piece. Sew the top edge of the pocket with a straight stitch at the pattern markings.
Fold the pocket down and topstitch the top and bottom edges.
  • Assemble
Pin the front and back pieces together, right sides facing, and sew the shoulder seams.
Sew the sleeves onto the armholes, right sides facing.
    Sew sleeves and side seam.
Fold the sleeve and jacket hems inwards, topstitch, use a cuff if necessary.
  • Hood
Outer hood: Place hood pieces right sides together and sew.
    Inner hood: Repeat the process.
Pin both hoods right sides together, sew the front edges together, turn right side out.
Pin and sew the hood from the outer fabric to the neckline.
Sew the inner hood only in the area of the front neckline, turn right side out.
Turn the seam allowance of the inner hood (back neckline) to the inside and topstitch from the right side.
Topstitch the front insert close to the edge.
Topstitch the front edges of the hood.
