Bucket Hat - Fishing Hat Guido.

The bucket hat is currently becoming a real style statement. Sewn from different fabrics, it is suitable for summer or the colder seasons, depending on the material.

What do you need?

  • Fabric consumption: for the simple, unlined summer version you need approx. 0.5 m x 1.5 m of fabric.
  • Sewing thread in matching color
  • scissors
  • You can also reinforce the brim with an inlay.

Crop:

  • Head section part A 1 x in break
  • Side part B 2 x
  • Brim C 4 x

Description:

  • Neaten the short fabric edges of part B (side section). Pin both side pieces right sides together and topstitch the short sides. Press the seams open.
  • Carefully pin the round head section (A) to the side section (B), right sides together. Make sure that the markings are aligned. Sew everything together all the way around and neaten.
  • Pin the two brim pieces (C) right sides together and sew the two short sides together. Press the seams open. Repeat the process for the other 2 brim pieces.
  • Pin the finished brim pieces right sides together and topstitch the outer edge of the fabric all the way around. Cut in the seam allowances, shape the fabric edge from the right side and iron.
  • Pin the brim to the head piece and sew together all the way around. Neaten the seam allowance. Press this seam into the head piece and topstitch from the right side.
    Topstitch the edge of the brim. Finished!
